A bright “ex-vangelical” Christian who left fundamentalism behind, Rachel Held Evans conveyed Christ-centered support for historically excluded people. She offered alternative views on scripture, interrogated systems of power, and asked big questions in search of loving answers. This is one of the many gifts RHE left her family and followers: that skepticism can be expansive, and there is so much clarity in doubt.
